Apparently this is the month of Stitch Fix reviews, right?! I finally feel like I am catching up here on the blog and sharing with you all the fun Stitch Fix boxes I’ve been enjoying the past month. My next box came this past week too so there will be one more coming your way shortly!

For my December 2015 Stitch Fix box I requested a couple of things: distressed skinny jeans, a winter dress, and date appropriate outfits. My stylist delivered on all fronts! I had a really hard decision to make (except for one item – yikes!).

If you’re new around these parts, stitch fix is a personal stylist company that hand picks 5 items based on your style and size. You get assigned your own stylist, and she gets to know your style based on your pinterest fashion board, style profile, and feedback you leave on your previous fixes. In turn she hand picks out pieces she think will make you look – and feel – great and sends them to you along with styling advice and a personal note. Love that part so much!

Henry & Belle Billy Distressed Skinny Jean

Ok, I can’t help but start with these jeans because I LOVE THESE JEANS SO MUCH. These are probably the nicest jeans I have ever put on my body before. Oh my goodness. The fit, the feel, the stretch. Quality clothes are worth it. I used to be cheap and didn’t get the reason for buying more expensive clothes. I totally get it now. Definitely worth it.

Kept #noregrets

Briton Ivy Page Bead Detail Blouse

This shirt is so fun! I love the metal accents, the blue color, and the layers. It is so unique and special! When I first saw it I thought it was going to be another flowy one that didn’t work but this one did! I layered it with a sweater and my jeans for a fun date night look in the winter, but I know it will look adorable with shorts in the summer. White jeans? Yes, please.

Kept

Adrianna Papell Aberdeen Dress

This is why I love Stitch Fix. I would never have picked this off the hanger for me. The color, the pattern, it just didn’t seem to be me. Then I put it on and definitely liked it more! I loved how it shimmered and that it was winter appririate (with some stockings/leggings of course). Plus, I got this fix on New Years Eve and if I had someplace fancy to go, I was keeping this. Alas, it just didn’t make sense in my life to keep a dress with no place to wear right now.

Returned

Kenzie Malli Ponte Jacket

So this jacket was super soft and easy to wear and would go with about anything. But I felt kind of bored with it. I don’t do boring with clothes anymore. I want to get excited to put my clothes on! So back it went.

Returned

But From The Kloth Stefany Printed Slim Straight Leg Pant

AHH! I am not an old man!!! Haha. That is literally what I think about these pants. That I should be a 60+ man playing golf. Oh no with this plaid, oh no. However, I will say they are super-duper comfortable with stretch for days. Although they were a little loose/too stretchy in the waist so I probably would have questioned keeping them even if they were a pattern/color I liked.

Returned

Overall, this Fix was so much fun! I loved all the different pieces! Some things really stretched me and that’s what I’m looking for. Also, did I mention those jeans…?? Sigh. I love them.

  • I am really enjoying your Stitch Fix posts! Love the jeans and shirt that you kept. What jeans are you wearing with the blue top? They look great, too.ReplyCancel

    • Thank you! The jeans with the blue top are from JCrew! Their jeans fit me so well.ReplyCancel

I feel like the world at large is always trying to have you have realistic expectations; nay, even low expectations so you can be surprised if something better happens.

I think that’s trash.

Stinky, smelly trash that needs to be incinerated immediately.

I fully, wholeheartedly, joyfully believe that your life is meant to be momentous, spectacular, and full of amazing surprises you could have never imagined.

I believe this because our expectations lead our life. If we only strive to shuffle forward a little bit at a time, chances are we will just being doing the shuffle through life.

BUT, if we decided to look up and try to take amazing leaps through life, we’re going to be leaping through life.

Yes, both ways we will have missteps. We will be disappointed, hurt, sad, and think about stopping all together. But we can’t. We have to keep going.

So what would you rather do? Shuffle or leap?

I believe in you, yes you, reading this, that your life was meant for great things planned especially for you. You just need to realize and accept that your life is meant to be splendid and grand and full of bounty and joy. You are meant to live a spectacular life.

So raise those expectations; because without raising them, you lose the dreaming and the inspiration and the open mindedness that will allow you to achieve those amazing things in life.

So throw out your arms, put on your comfy shoes, and start leaping through life!

As much as I love getting a box from Stitch Fix where every piece fits perfectly and I keep them all, sometimes there is something to be said for a box where you love one thing. Well, I actually would love to have 5/5 boxes every time but my wallet appreciates boxes where I only like one item. 🙂

After coming off the October box high, I was so excited for November’s box. I was doubly excited for this one because I scheduled it for the day before Thanksgiving when my mom would be here to open it with me.

Then I opened it…and didn’t love it. I think I even said I absolutely hated one thing.

But wait…I’m putting the cart before the horse. Let me give you the quick run down on Stitch Fix first and then we can get into the piece by piece breakdown.

RD Style Yolanda Airy Knit Sweater

This is the one I said I absolutely hated when I opened the box. Now, this may seem a little hypocritical since I LOVED the black lace back shirt in the last box. Which may also be the reason I got this shirt. However, crochet is a) too boho for me and b) too cold. I don’t do holes in my sweater on purpose.

Once I put it on with a colorful shirt underneath it, I definitely liked it more. But not enough to keep it. Also, after looking at the pictures, it was a definite no. Sometimes photographing the pieces show me how they really look and help my decision making process.

Returned

Echo Hannah Ombre Striped Infinity Scarf

Ok, so I asked for no scarves. And I got a scarf. In her defense, I did ask for as inexpensive box as possible, so I’m assuming that is why she put a scarf in there. But sorry, no. I know the colors are me but I have SO MANY scarves that I rarely wear.

Returned

En Creme Lola Open Cardigan

This sweater is so fun! I love the colors and the pattern. I love that it can be thrown over things and be cuddly for colder temperatures. Except that it really isn’t that cuddly. It was a little itchy. I’ve learned the hard way that I won’t wear anything itchy – ever. Plus, I thought this would be hard to pair with my closet full of bright colors and patterns.

Returned

Liverpool Anita Skinny Pant

Oh Stitch Fix, one of the reasons we have such a good relationship is that you give me pants that fit me great and are long enough. That is a rarity in my world. So keep them coming! I love these stretchy grey pants that can go with sooo much all winter long.

Kept

Alice Blue Faustian Contrast Side Panel Knit Top

Sigh. This shirt. It had potential with the different stripes and such but oh my, I’m not pregnant. This is such a maternity shirt to me! I know this flowy style is trendy but nope, not for me. I’ve had to camouflage my body in my heavier days and it was so challenging. So now that I feel more confident in my shape and size, I don’t want to drape it in maternity-like clothing!

Returned

That sums up my 1/5 box. But I was actually happy that only one piece was kept! And pants – thank goodness – I need them. Also, my mom bought the pants for my Christmas present and that makes them even that much more special. Thanks Mom!!

So, you agree or disagree with what I kept?!

  • I agree with what you kept and sent back. Those pants are terrific and they look like ones that you can wear year round. really don’t care at all for the other four things that you received and I hope they don’t come my way for my next fix!ReplyCancel

    • Yeah, definitely not my best fix. 🙁 But my wallet appreciated that this time!! The pants are great though! Definitely an all season pant!ReplyCancel

Look inward my darling. You have it all.

If you feel lack, it is because you are looking externally to make you happy, whole. But darling, it is all within you. You’ve got it. You are it. You just have to recognize it. You have to harness it, embrace it, own it.

You will never find it in another.

It is fleeting. It isn’t real. It will leave you more wanting then when you initially found you. It will take a piece of you with it, but when you find it internally you are building an even stronger person.

Look inward, darling, you are enough.

Happy New Year! Now let’s talk about October of last year, shall we? Ha! I’ve had a whirlwind of a few months with traveling to see family and friends that I am a little behind with getting my Stitch Fix reviews in, so I’m going to do a little push this month to catch up.

In all honesty, I almost cancelled October’s fix because of all my traveling and the holidays, but I just couldn’t make myself do it. I love them so much! It’s my one big treat on myself each month since I am ultra thrifty in the rest of my life.

Boy, I am glad I didn’t miss this month either…because it was a surprisingly good one. I say surprising cause I didn’t think I would keep much…and then….welll, you will find out. No spoilers here!

This month I asked to keep my same stylist, Lauren, because I love what she picks for me so much. I hope she never goes away because she seems to get my fashion style more than I do! I asked for another pair of pants, another try at a jacket (I’ve gotten two no’s), a cross body bag, and other fun fall items. She totally delivered on all fronts. Let’s get into it.

41Hawthorn Lizzy Colorblock Striped Sweater

This sweater is the perfect fall/winter staple that I know I will reach for time and time again. It is so extremely, ridiculously soft, which is essential for those cold mornings when getting out from under the warm covers seems like the hardest task in life. Plus, it has my colors – blue and green! I actually showed this to my friend and she said, “This is so Megan I’m surprised you don’t already have it”. Well, now I do.

Kept

Brooklyn Crossbody Bag

I love a good cross body, especially for traveling (which I’ve been doing a lot of recently). I have a really structured one but it doesn’t fit much because of that reason. I really like that this one is soft (leather soft but it’s not real leather) and that it has lots of pockets for storing things. The color is beautiful too. I was on the fence about this once and thought about returning it/giving as a Christmas present but I’m going to keep it.

Kept (After having it almost for months and traveling with it I’m so glad I kept it!!)

Fate Harry Lace Back Pullover Sweater

This is one of those times that proves how important it is to try something on. I pulled this out and wasn’t impressed. It was black (I go for color) and sheer/lacy. Not usually what I go for. But I took my stylist’s suggestion and tried it on with a colorful cami under it and fell in love. This top is amazing!! I love that you can mix it up with the cami underneath it. Plus, a nice black shirt is so versatile and then when you add those lacy details, it gets really good.

Kept

Liverpool Lucia Faux Leather Detail Skinny Pant

It’s time to get to the real love affair of this entire box. These pants. Oh my goodness, when I pulled these out I may have said some prayers hoping these pants fit. I love to add a little edge to my wardrobe so anything with leather details makes me swoon. Put that on a patterned pant and I’m in love. Plus, these are super stretchy and sooo comfortable. Plus, they look amazing with the Fate sweater. This is my new favorite outfit of all time now!

Kept

En Creme Shale Drape Open Jacket

This is try three for a jacket. Let me say, this is never something that I would have originally picked. Nor did I love it when I tried it on. I did decide to buy all five items because the 25% discount for buying all five cost the same as buying the three definites (the two sweaters and pants). After many times trying it on and lots of hemming and hawing I sold this on a Stitch Fix Facebook board and am so happy about it! I hope it is at a home where it is worn all the time.

Sold

Ack! There it is – almost a perfect box! Gosh darn it, I love this service. Now that I’ve transitioned to my cold weather wardrobe I’ve been really looking at it with a discerning eye. If I don’t love it and feel amazing in it, it’s out! This gets a whole lot easier as I get more and more amazing items from Stitch Fix.

  • Yeah! I finally get to see your October fix! I totally agree with what you kept for yourself. I love those pants and the two tops are great. I didn’t think I liked the black top that much until you showed us the back. Love that pop of color under the lace! I’m so glad that I saw your cross body purse in December and was glad to get one. I love it! I hope you’ll share your November fix soon!ReplyCancel

    • Hah! It took long enough didn’t it? It might be my favorite one yet too! I’m so glad you were able to get the cross body too! I love the color you got. My November (and December!) fix should be up soon…but before I get my January fix? Haha. Who knows?!ReplyCancel
